Background & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Qualifications

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) specialising in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT).
I see clients on a 1:1 basis at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton, South West London, as well as in private practise in Central London.
I facilitate a weekly REBT based Self Acceptance Group at the Priory Hospital on Wednesday mornings. The group is open to In-Patients, Out-Patients and Day-Care Patients taking part in the Group Therapy Day Care Programme.
I am a Senior Lecturer at the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in London lecturing on Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Advanced Integrative I & II Diploma courses. (http://www.cbttherapies.org.uk).
I have an MSc in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

My Specialisms

Although my main specialisms are Performance Anxiety and Social Anxiety, I have a special interest in Self Acceptance (selfacceptance.co). However, a specialism should not have the effect of neglecting other treatments areas. I believe that a maintaining a broad-based approach to problem solving is the most effective way to provide therapeutic help. (rebt.help)
I also provide Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and I work with Compassion Focused Therapy when it is indicated.

Approach to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & How I Work

I usually see clients and patients on a 1:1 basis for hour long sessions, and the length of therapy (number of sessions) is dependant on a variety of factors, so I tend to maintain a flexible approach to therapy duration. CBT is a goal-directed solution-focused therapy and works best when there is a clear therapy goal identified during a detailed assessment.
CBT can be a flexible model and is often criticised by other therapeutic traditions of being too superficial. CBT is not superficial, but can be flexible and eclectic in it's scope.
