Background & Acupuncture Qualifications

She trained for four years at the internationally renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, U.K., studying acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and gained a BSc(Hons) and Licentiate of Acupuncture (LicAc). Her training also includes biomedical sciences, five-element acupuncture, tui na, gua-sha and qi gong.

My Specialisms

Heather has a passion for helping people solve both the effects and the causes of illness. In her work alongside acupuncture she has 20 years personal training in meditation and completed courses in meditation philosophy. The emphasis on compassion training enables her to create a safe therapeutic environment for her patients.

She practices acupuncture using an integrated approach that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with Five Element Acupuncture. She specialises in acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, tui-na, cupping and moxibustion. She has a broad knowledge of Western medicine and treats a wide range of conditions to restore and preserve physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

Heather treats both men and women and aims to get to the constitutional root of the condition to achieve long term health improvements. This approach enables the body and mind to truly repair and re-balance.

She has a particular interest in chronic conditions and emotional health and wellbeing, supporting people to get their life on track to prevent further illness. She also treats women through the stages of menopause, fertility, pregnancy, labour and post-natal care.

Approach to Acupuncture & How I Work

Your comfort and your treatment goals are the priority and appointments will focus on ensuring that you get the maximum benefit from diagnosis and treatment.

In treatment Heather will gain a thorough understanding of your main complaint and general health by taking a full medical history (operations, medications and conditions) and information about your symptoms, sleep pattern, diet, digestion and other lifestyle factors. Some of the questions may seem unrelated to your condition, however it all helps to form a complete picture of your health and lifestyle.

She is also qualified to offer nutritional and lifestyle advice based on Oriental Medicine principles to help you back to health.
This advice will be based on your unique constitution and will take into account any goals that you may have. What is good for one person may not be good for another and eating according to our body's energetics can be fundamental to regaining good health.
