I have a Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's College, London, 1999. I practice Psychotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and short-term, solution focused therapy. I have received specialist training in Addiction Counselling and Working with Young People (OCS Diploma, 2007). I am a Licensed Practitioner of NLP and studied with Richard Bandler (co-founder of The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Paul McKenna. I am committed to on-going continued professional development and, as a requirement of all BACP accredited therapists, I undertake on-going professional supervision on a twice monthly basis. I have worked as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor in Brighton and Hove and East Sussex since 2005. I have also worked as a counsellor in the voluntary sector for MIND And SASS.
I work with people suffering from low mood and depression, bereavement and loss, relationship problems, stress and anxiety, low self-esteem and low confidence, addictions.
The fundamental principals of Existential Psychotherapy underlie the way I work, I have a non-judgemental approach and respect for individuals and differences. I focus on the relationship before anything else. Research supports the importance of the connection between the client and therapist and the relationship that forms. I believe therapy should be about providing a supportive and compassionate environment, where truths can be discovered and challenges confronted. My intention is to be fully present in the therapy session and to provide supportive listening and insightful reflections. We may discover that you want to change and develop, and find new found ways of being. You can come and talk and explore within the safe and holding environment of the therapy room, and you can pro-actively make changes outside the therapy room using CBT techniques.
