Hugh Howe MA MBACP
Hello, I am qualified counsellor with 20 years experience of working with children, young people and families. I have a warm, empathic nature that enables clients to fully express their feelings and their voices to be heard. I strongly believe that our experiences can be explored and worked through when they have impacted our lives. For me it is important that clients have the freedom to explore and work through their experiences in a private, safe space.
I work in private practice in Clapham and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. My approach is integrative and strongly underpinned by my belief in person-centred non-directive. Holding the uniqueness of clients in mind, I help clients to explore their difficulties at their own pace. I use a psychodynamic approach to help individuals explore deeper feelings and patterns of behaviour. I am also able provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ( CBT) to offer strategies that target specific problems.
I am passionate about helping clients explore and work through their difficulties and issues they may be experiencing or have experienced in their life. I have extensive experience of working as counsellor with the following issues such as anger, loss, low self-esteem, self-confidence, depression, anxiety, sexual violence and self-harm. I am aware just how difficult it is to open up to someone, so I focus on building a trusting relationship with my clients, so they can freely explore and express their feelings.
I am passionate about helping clients explore and work through difficulties they maybe experiencing or have experienced. I believe counselling helps clients explore and work through the experiences that impact upon them as individuals and is committed to supporting clients to work towards making positive steps of change in their life.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work
My own pathway into counselling and as a counsellor has provided me with belief that counselling can help to clarify the problems and challenges in life and help to explore and heal those experiences that impact upon our lives. I believe that every client is unique and I can use creative materials if necessary by the client in therapy to help explore and come to terms with the problems. By this way of working I feel that clients will be able make the steps for positive changes in life. My desire is to help clients find their self worth and true potential in life and society. There are moments which change our life forever. Through my work as a counsellor I endeavour to enable clients to find their opportunity for change.
