Background & Qualifications

A Fellow of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH). My Hypnotherapy training was carried out with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis. I attend regular masterclasses in London.

I worked part-time as a Complementary therapist with Hospiscare Devon for 7 years, both in the community through home visits and working in the in patient unit. During that time I was involved in a pilot study into the efficacy of Hypnotherapy within Palliative care. As a result of the finding s of the study, Hypnotherapy was added to the list of therapies that could be offered to the patients and their carers by relevantly qualified therapists. I am still connected with Hospiscare as a volunteer offering Hypnotherapy to patients and carers.

I studied VTCT courses at Exeter College for many of the therapies that I am qualified in. I studied Myofascial Release at The School of Bodywork in Exeter in 2013. I qualified in Reiki at Hospiscare February 2015.

My Specialisms

Hypnotherapy is effective in treating a variety of issues, such as: Low Self -esteem, Anxiety and Stress, for which Aromatherapy is also an effective tool.

Phobias, Habit breaking, IBS, sporting performance, sleep problems (here Reflexology can be very effective also), lack of confidence, pain control, performance anxiety, weight control are among the long list of problems which can be effectively helped with hypnotherapy.

Reiki is a soothing and relaxing treatment in which the patient remains clothed throughout. Can be de-stressing and comforting.

Myofascial Release involves gently holding a mild stretch and allowing the body to untwist itself. Very effective especially for those who have tried other forms of treatment without success.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I am to treat the whole person and not just the symptom. Aches and pains in the body can be caused for instance by emotional issues from the past, anxiety, or trauma. It may therefore be necessary to combine more than one form of treatment in order to achieve the desired result.

More than one form of massage can be combined in one treatment. For instance deep tissue massage can be given to the back area but a more gentle form of massage to the arms and legs. If appropriate Abdominal massage can be taught at some point in the session (usually beginning or end), whilst the remaining time is given over to another form of treatment.

Reflexology can also combine with other forms of treatment e.g. a short leg or shoulder massage, the session could be ended with 10, 15, or 20 minutes of Reiki.
