The Benefits of Reflexology

Perhaps understanding the many benefits of reflexology will encourage sceptics to try this wonderfully relaxing treatment. I have been successfully treating clients with Reflexology treatments for 13 years now and still enjoy the opportunity of helping others find balance in their life both on a physical and emotional level.

Foot Reflexology is a safe and effective way of helping the body to heal itself. The idea is to treat the body as an entire connected organism as opposed to simply focusing on specific symptoms.

There are 7,000 nerve endings in each foot which explains why we enjoy a good foot massage and feel so much better when our feet are in good condition and so unhappy when they are in an uncomfortable state. Just think ladies how miserable we can be at the end of a night out after squashing our feet into those attractive pointed high heels!

By stimulating specific reflex points on the feet which are believed to be connected to various organs and glands using the thumb or forefinger this improves circulation and lymph flow, cleansing the body of impurities and revitalizing energy, therefore encouraging the body to naturally restore its own healthy balance. Riding the body of waste and toxins is extremely important to your health. When the lymphatic, urinary or intestinal systems become blocked due to a build up of toxins and waste the energy in the body stagnates. This may cause you to feel bloated, lethargic or even sick. During treatment this boost in blood circulation increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients rejuvenating tired cells and tissues giving you a new lease of life.

These days many of our problems can be linked to stress due to our busy lifestyles, which in large amounts can lead to various symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, digestive disorders, muscular pain and hormonal imbalances. As reflexology can be pleasurable and very relaxing to receive, it has a soothing effect on the body both physically and emotionally promoting overall better health.

Although there is evidence to support Reflexology compliments cancer treatment, pregnancy, IVF, depression, it is not advised that it is seen as a medical substitute but simply as an alternative therapy which offers many benefits for long term health and deep relaxation.

I look forward to seeing you for a Reflexology treatment soon.
