Master in Art Psychotherapy
Registered with HCPC ( Health and Care Professions Council)
Recognised Supervisor and Private Practitioner with BAAT (The british association of art therapists)
Art therapy is a form of Psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Within this context, I don't use art as a diagnostic tool but as a medium to address emotional issues which may be confusing and distressing. I will help the client find an outlet for often complex and confusing emotions, which may not necessarily be able to be expressed verbally. I will encourage self awareness and confidence. Part of my role as an art therapist is to plan distinct ways of working with clients from different backgrounds and through learning from each individual what is required to work best for their creative journey.
In group work, I will encourage members to relate to each other via the art they produce. The images and their meanings for the group will need to be worked through over a period of time committed to group therapy.
I have a diverse experience from working in hospice, paediatric centre, community mental health and education aswell as private practice.
I am also a professional artist involved in community based art projects.
