Ruth Parker

Bowen Technique Practitioner in Wallasey

I consider an holistic approach to health and well-being as paramount. Bowen therapy is always the first choice and most effective treatment, however I also practise massage, aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage.
Bowen therapy is a holistic, drug free, non invasive, hands-on remedial therapy which can be administered through light clothing, the client sitting, standing or lying.
It has a remarkable record of success with clients affected by an astonishingly wide range of conditions…….often when nothing else has helped.

I continue to learn with regular Bowen Professional Development training each year and utilise all my experience and knowledge with clients. My background is nursing, midwifery and health visiting and have a broad range of knowledge and skills.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

Bowen helps the body's systems re-balance and promotes healing. Bowen is suitable for men, women and children of all ages. What is the treatment like? With primarily fingers and thumbs, the Bowen practitioner makes small rolling movements over muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissue at precise points on the body, using only the amount of pressure appropriate for that individual. No hard tissue manipulation or force is needed or used. Rather than ‘making' the body change, Bowen ‘asks' the body to recognise and make the changes it requires. Between each set of moves, the body is allowed to rest for a few minutes, to allow it to absorb the information it has received and initiate the healing process. Bowen is generally pleasant to receive, each session lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the client and the nature of their condition. Conditions which have been reported to respond to the Bowen Technique: headache, ear problems, hay fever, jaw problems, neck pain, whiplash, shoulder problems, bronchial/respiratory problems, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel, RSI, breast problems, digestive problems, back pain, sciatica, infant colic, pregnancy [&] fertility problems, pelvic pain, groin strain, menstrual problems, knee problems, hamstring problems, ankle [&] foot problems, fatigue, muscular and joint problems.
