I have been working as a Chartered Physiotherapist since 1999, first for the NHS for 6 years before setting up my private practice in 2005. My love of movement has taken me into the fields of Pilates (Pilates Foundation trained - 2005), GYROTONIC® (2008), GYROKINESIS® (2009) and since 2013 into exploring Feldenkrais, which I am integrating into my work to great effect. I am also passionate about the mind and have been working as a Humanistic Psychotherapist since 2012.

Because the body and the mind are interconnected, I use all of my skills and experience in a unique integrative therapeutic approach aimed at addressing both the physical and the psychological as appropriate in the areas of rehabilitation, prevention and management of health conditions. Exploring the relationship between the body and the mind and how they influence each other has the potential to achieve better results than singular approaches. The consequent gains in awareness are deeper so that change can flourish, leading to greater harmony and optimal physical and mental health and wellness. I am bilingual and work with my clients in both English and French.

Background & Qualifications

I was born and raised in France, and in 1989 emigrated to the UK, North London, where I have been living ever since. I am bilingual and work with my clients in both English and French.

After receiving a First Class BSc Honours Degree in Sports Sciences from the University of North London in 1996, I obtained a First Class BSc Honours Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of East London in 1999. I then worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the NHS for 6 years, where I gained experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide variety of conditions.

In my last two years at the Royal Free Hospital, I specialised in the management of spinal conditions. I also ran the Physiotherapy Service for Osteoporosis and set up a research project on the long-term effects of exercise on osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.

I am also a Pilates teacher (Pilates Foundation trained) as well as a GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® teacher. My love of movement has more recently taken me to explore Feldenkrais, which I am integrating into my work to great effect.

I have undertaken extensive training in Humanistic Psychotherapy at Spectrum (Centre for Humanistic Psychology and Member of the UKCP) since 2009 and have been working as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor for the NHS at a Barnet GP surgery and in private practice since 2012.

I am a guest lecturer for several Pilates Teacher Training courses and for the 'Masters in Training Actors' course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. I have co-authored the Oxford Rheumatology Library publication on 'Physiotherapy Approach to Osteoporosis' and am on the International Advisory Board of the 'Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies'.

The passion, curiosity and expertise I bring to my work is also informed and enhanced by my personal experience as a wife and step-mother.

My Specialisms

I have a particular interest in working with the physical and psychological aspects of spinal complaints, sports injuries, osteoporosis, chronic pain, preparing for and recovering after pregnancy, insomnia, addictive behaviours and anxiety disorders.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

Because the body and the mind are interconnected, I address both the physical and the psychological as appropriate in the areas of rehabilitation, prevention and management of health conditions.

In this way, I can help you recover from a crisis by looking at its physical and psychological manifestations in you, for example a back injury, or a miscarriage; I can help you prevent new problems emerging or the recurrence of previous problems by looking at existing patterns of posture, movement, behaviour and emotion, for example neck pain linked to poor posture and stress; I can help you manage the physical and psychological impact of chronic issues, such as osteoporosis or depression.

Exploring the relationship between the body and the mind and how they influence each other has the potential to achieve better results than other approaches. The consequent gains in awareness are deeper so that change can flourish, leading to greater harmony and optimal physical and mental health and wellness.
