I started training as a counsellor in 2000 and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at Brighton University in 2004. I have been working as a counsellor in Brighton since 2004 and I have been a BACP accredited counsellor since 2009. Between 2004 and 2013, I worked at The Beech Group, a successful group practice in Brighton, but I now run my own practice.
In addition to being a counsellor, I teach a popular counselling skills course at Varndean College in Brighton.
Anxiety, Career Coaching, Coaching Supervision, Cultural issues, Depression, General counselling, Health related issues, Life Coaching, Loss, Mens Issues, Mental health issues, Obsessions, Personal Development, Redundancy, Relationships, Self Esteem, Self Harm, Stress, Work related issues.
I am an empathic, non-judgemental and genuine person, and I like to work my clients so that they can find their own way forward with their issues. We work together, exploring and gaining insights into the underlying issues and blind spots. Therefore, the counselling process helps to build your self-awareness, which will make you feel a stronger and more self confident person.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am able to use a number of counselling approaches according to the needs of my clients. I have had extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with leading American Cognitive therapist, Christine Padesky. CBT is an approach to therapy favoured by the NHS and recommended in the N.I.C.E. guidelines.
I am also believe in the practice of Mindfulness, and sometimes introduce Mindfulness exercises in the therapy if I feel my client would benefit, such as in cases of anxiety and depression.
