I have a degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I am a qualified teacher and used to work in IT/Business training before re-training as a counsellor.
I believe my specialism is the relationship between me and my clients. People often come to see me about one issue and soon find they are wanting to work at something totally different so feel having a wide range of experience, both professionally and personally, help me to help my clients.
I have worked in bereavement support for a hospice and also for a befriending service.
I have an interest in body confidence issues, especially for people who have been long-term dieters. Have a look at my article on my website which explains more.
I use an Integrative approach which is based on the premise that my clients work towards solutions with me working alongside them. I really believe the relationship between us is what will enable this to happen and will use other resources when I think they will be useful. My main training is in Person Centred Counselling but I use theories and tools from other theories including CBT, Psychodynamic and Gestalt.
