Christine King

Counsellor in Newcastle Upon Tyne

If you're reading this its probably because you are going through a difficult time and want to "Make a Difference" in your life. I know from experience how hard it can be to take that first step and want to reassure you that I treat all enquiries with absolute respect, confidentiality and integrity. Life can be hard and we can all feel low, stressed or anxious at times. Sometimes we may be able to talk things through with friends or a family member but if symptoms persist or worsen then professional help may be needed. Avoiding the situation can lead to even more difficulties and have an impact on your physical health. Talking about your issues is not a sign of weakness and counselling is a process to help you share your thoughts and feelings and confront the issues that are concerning you. Together we can help you find your own solutions and help you through difficult times. I consider it a privilege to work with every client I meet and it is my job to help you access your own resources to help free yourself and build new foundations for a more fulfilling life. Each stage of your journey is discussed and agreed as I believe that we are all unique and "one size doesn't fit all". Therapy can be whatever you want it to be - it is a process to help you work things out and feel better in a safe and confidential environment. It can help you cope with a difficult life event, mental health condition, an upsetting physical health condition, difficult emotions or a whole host of other issues such as those below.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I hold an advanced diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling incorporating hypnotherapy practice. I am based in Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne but see clients from various locations:
Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton, Killingworth, North Shields, Wideopen, Cramlington, Kingston Park, Dinnington, Ponteland, Alnwick, Morpeth, Gateshead, coastal areas (Ashington, Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, South Shields) and the Durham and Sunderland areas.

FREE CONSULTATION
I firmly believe, and know from experience, that counselling and hypnotherapy can help you to make a difference in your life and change things for the future and I offer a free initial telephone consultation (0191 2744208/07962424491or email at madmakingadifference60@gmail.com) which is offered without any obligation whatsoever to proceed with therapy. Why do I do this?
Because it is the best way to assess what is best for you. It also helps us to gain some rapport before therapy commences and it allows us the chance to ensure you are ready for the change to be made and to help you make a difference in your life.

Safety and Regulation Issues
Unfortunately, hypnotherapists are not legislated in the UK and are not therefore required to have any specific training or to join any organisation by law. This does means that there may be unscrupulous individuals out there with either little or no professional training in the skills required for effective, ethical treatment and who may have little regard for your well being.

Qualified professionals who practise therapy belong to professional organisations so please ensure you choose a qualified therapist.
I am a Professional Member of the National Hypnotherapy Society and National Counselling Society and adhere to their fundamental ethical principles of:
Approaching work in the spirit of a vocation
Honouring the subjectivity of the therapy experience
Honouring the client's subjectivity, views, beliefs, ideas, goals
Respecting commonly understood boundaries

Additional Rate Information

I sincerely wish I could offer therapy for free but unfortunately, like everyone else, I do have to make a living. I do however believe that my fees are reasonable and give value for the time and effort that goes into my sessions and the preparation work completed before each session. FREE CONSULTATION - I offer a free initial confidential telephone consultation (with no obligation). This allows us to explore exactly what you want to achieve and how counselling/hypnotherapy may be able to help. A face to face first session typically lasts 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions (when needed) are 45-60 minutes. Hypnotherapy smoking cessation is usually 90 - 120 minutes Hypnotherapy weight control usually starts with a longer session of 90 minutes and subsequent sessions lasting 45-60 minutes. Before therapy commences I discuss the number of sessions usually required for whatever treatment you are seeking. It should however be noted that this can be difficult to predict in advance as each individual progresses differently. I therefore never ask clients to bulk buy sessions (as I feel this is unethical) and instead treat all clients with honesty, integrity and encouragement to reach resolutions as soon as it is possible for them. Group bookings are priced on request.
