Counsellor in Bedford

I have always valued the potential of each human being and believe we all have the possibility to grow, adapt and change throughout our lives. The picture on my website taken personally in the Lake District, provides a view of the possibilities seen from the path and those sensed in the mountains ahead. On our path of life so far, and from the views and experiences on and from it, I feel convinced our early experience of relationships will have strongly shaped the person we have become.

I view the counselling relationship between client and counsellor/therapist as a powerful opportunity to take stock and gain more awareness of ourselves. Making new choices in how we live our lives can lead us to feeling more fulfilled and content

Background & Qualifications

I am a BACP Registered and Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and as a member of the BACP I am bound by their code of professional ethics. I am qualified with an MA Degree in Psychotherapy and Healing awarded by Middlesex University in 2005. I am committed to undertake on a regular basis ongoing professional and personal development. Examples of this include training in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Energy Psychology and Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy. The latter is an an innovative blend between talking therapies and energy psychology which in simple terms acknowledges how many of our emotions feelings and experiences are help in the body. For me the conversation that is therapy is a holistic synthesis of mind and body. I invite my clients to join the conversation using one or the other or both!!

My Specialisms

I see specialisms in two ways:Who I see and what I do. I see individuals, students and couples. Many many issues are brought to my room mainly depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, bereavement, anger management and support for students in training.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

My Core training as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist has a core focus on Jungian and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. This means that it may be possible that we may need to work with and recognise important events from the past as well as now and that we engage with both the conscious and unconscious mind. I am also a fully rained and supported energy psychotherapist which means that I work with the energies of the body and how they make us feel. Indeed when we describe these feelings it is often connected with how our energy is flowing or where we are holding it. I will always attune to who my client is and be present in the room with what is needed; which the combination of who I am and how I work and rain gives me.
