My clinical experience working in mental health spans over many different areas and many years. I have worked with the Older Adults Psychology department within the Kent and Medway NHS trust as well as a within a drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation setting. I have also been a member of the team for a counselling service that offers free and low cost therapy to members of the local community as I believe that therapy should be available to everyone. Most recently I was employed by the University for the Creative Arts working with the students as part of the student wellbeing Gateway Services. Concurrently I have run a private practice for several years in both a face to face as well as an online capacity.
Within all of these roles and settings, I have worked with a range of different mental health issues as well as emotional and psychological difficulties. My experience of living and working in several European countries has given me a good understanding of cultural differences and nuances.

Psychotherapy provides a safe and confidential place in which you can explore problems or issues that might be affecting you, your relationships with others and your life in a wider sense.
My aim is to create a space in which you feel able to confide and trust in our ability to examine the areas of your life that you may be unhappy or dissatisfied with and look for solutions to these. My belief is that the relationship and respect created between therapist and client is an invaluable element to the process and progression of your therapy and this is always at the heart of our work together.
As a practitioner I am fully aware that it can be intimidating to take that first step towards counselling, particularly if you are dealing with overpowering and difficult emotions. However, I do wholeheartedly believe that when you make that courageous move towards therapy, you are moving towards a greater understanding of yourself, your relationships and your past experiences.
It is always very important to make sure that you are happy with your therapist and that you feel that you can trust them. This is something that we would cover in the assessment in order to ensure that you are happy to engage in therapeutic work with me before we agree upon a regular contact that suits you.
Past experiences can significantly impact on us in the ‘here and now' and can prevent us from being happy or being in a place of fully enjoying our lives. I believe that these experiences can result in adult depression and anxiety disorders that make everyday life staggeringly exhausting and overwhelming.
You can contact me at any time by telephone or e-mail if you have any further questions that you feel you would like to ask. We can talk about how you as an individual could benefit from counselling.
During our lives we go through changes and shifts that are inevitable, that is not to say that we welcome all of these because let's face it not all of them will be positive. Psychotherapy should never promise to replace what you have lost, what it can offer is a place where you are able to express yourself fully regarding how you feel about those losses. In the space created for you, you can safely let go of ‘keeping it together' and explore the changes you are facing.
Past experiences are another facet that counselling can significantly help with. It is my belief that much of the way that we react to certain circumstances can be traced back to childhood experience. Childhood traumas can leave a significant mark on us in the forms of very low self confidence, manifestations of jealousy, aggression/anger, fear of intimacy and fear of rejection and abandonment. Understanding your past, whatever it entails means that you can move into a future you are happier with
