I am an experienced therapist offering counselling support to individuals and couples. I work with clients on a wide range of personal issues including anxiety, stress. depression, low self esteem, panic attacks, anger management, eating disorders, dealing with loss and change and relationship issues I recognise the importance of providing a safe environment with secure boundaries which will allow clients to work in the way which is most helpful to them. I offer different counselling strategies and a key part of this work is the initial opening discussion about which techniques will best fit with the needs of each individual client. I also work with students and counsellors in training.

Confidential counselling appointments are held in pleasant offices in Forum House which is in the centre of Chichester with easy access and ample parking facilities.

Background & Qualifications

As well as working in Private Practice for many years my experience includes working as a counsellor for almost five years within a Health Centre as well as spending many years working within an established Counselling Charity.

I have a professional business back ground and in addition to formal counselling qualifications and a degree I hold a postgraduate business qualification. I am a Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and an Associate Member of Association for Coaching.

My Specialisms

I am trained to work with a number of different counselling approaches including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT),psychodynamic counselling and brief solution focussed therapy. I also use existential therapy and behavioural therapy.

I am also trained to work in relationship counselling and I work with couples who are encountering challenges within their relationship.

In addition to formal counselling qualifications I provide coaching and personal development support. With a strong business background I have a particular interest in working with clients who are facing challenges within the workplace. This can include bullying, dealing with change or working with challenging colleagues.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

The number of different counselling approaches can be confusing. My approach is to have an initial informal discussion with each potential client to look at the issues which are of concern. That provides an opportunity to talk together about what could be an appropriate way forward and allows clients to form an initial view as to whether the way I work is likely to be helpful to them. I do not charge a fee for that initial consultation.

Fees charged are subject to negotiation and intended to reflect the ability to pay. Reduced fees are available to students and counsellors in training.

I charge a range of fees which are intended to reflect the individual circumstances of each client and will also take into account the timing and frequency of meetings. I am always concerned to try to ensure that counselling is affordable for those who wish to take up the opportunity. There is no fee charged for an initial consultation. That first meeting provides an opportunity to look at the issues of concern to each individual client and also provides an opportunity to glance at practical issues such as timing and fees.
