People come to counselling with a wide variety of concerns and the most common include:
stress or anxiety
low mood or depression
difficulties in your relationships with partners, family or friends
problems with anger
struggles with body image
loss or bereavement
physical, sexual or emotional abuse
difficulties at work or with your studies
loss of meaning in your life
damaging behaviours and addictions
This isn't a complete list and I am happy to talk through anything you want to, however unusual, personal or unimportant you might sometimes think it is.
All are welcome, but in common with many therapists I have particular areas and groups that speak to me:
Many young adults find themselves unable to meet their aspirations or fulfil their perceived obligations. The journey into maturity seems impossible and littered with pitfalls.
Midlife can be extremely difficult. Family pressures, work pressures, financial pressures and the re-surfacing of long past events can combine to make this period of our lives difficult to navigate.
WHO DO I WORK WITH?
I work with all adults aged 18 years and over.
I am an Integrative Counsellor with my principal training in person centred theory
Each person needs to be considered as a whole, and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances. Integrative counselling maintains the idea that there are many ways in which human psychology can be explored and understood - no one theory alone holds the answer.
I am fully qualified and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), a professional body which ensures professional conduct amongst counsellors and psychotherapists. I abide by their code of ethics and subscribe to their view of best practice.
Please note the rates detailed below are there to give you an idea of the therapists standard rates, we strongly advise you contact the therapist for more detailed rates and any offers they may have.
|Counselling||In Person||£50 per 50 minutes|
The first session is free, thereafter the fee is £50 per session. The sessions last 50 minutes. I work with an open ended number of sessions, therapy being an inexact science. However if there are very specific issues that you would like to tackle then we can tailor the number of sessions to suit you. I work until 1900 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fridays are day times only. Early sessions are available. A strong therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client helps to create the best chance for successful therapy. To promote this in our first session together we make an initial assessment, explore what you would like to get from therapy and look at the process going forward. Sessions are face to face or online. Online sessions normally use zoom or skype. There is some resistance to on line counselling however through the COVID pandemic therapeutic work has continued - using an on line platform works well and strong therapeutic bonds are made. I am very happy to discuss the ins and outs of online work. Just give me a call. .
