, Counsellor - Nottingham
Having had a significant and life changing experience of counselling I was drawn to continue the journey of self-development which has brought me to the point of becoming a counsellor myself and I feel I have found a role that I thrive in.
My experience to date as a counsellor in Nottingham has been working with adults of all ages who have caring responsibilities. I have gained experience working with personal dilemmas, childhood trauma, bereavement, disabilities, chronic illness, suicidal thoughts, intrusive thoughts, and the considerable stresses of modern living.
I don't want you to feel you need to have a specific issue to need counselling from me. If something is troubling you, then it is important to you and worthy of attention. I will meet you and your experience in a compassionate, accepting, non-judgemental and empathic way.
My professional interest extends to mindfulness in counselling as it focuses on what is felt by the body in the moment. Feelings are the sensations of emotions and reconnecting to our bodily sensations can help us identify what is happening with us. Being more accepting of the moment as it is rather than what we wish it to be is a route to a happier life. Finding ways to be more in the moment helps us reach that.
Background & Qualifications
I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society working in Private Practice offering Counselling via Skype for wherever you are in the UK.
I work offering non-judgement and acceptance to help you bring about the growth and change you seek or wish for yourself.
I lived in London for over twenty years before moving to Nottingham. I worked in roles that were pressured, responsible and demanding. I also experienced the significant press of life that living in a big city can bring: the transport difficulties, the intense busyness, financial pressures created by high housing and transport costs, and the stress and potential for aggression that comes as a natural part of living in an overcrowded environment.
I am Qualified to Diploma level and furthering my counselling interests by working towards a Degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice at the University of Nottingham.
I am open to working with you regardless of your issues though depending on your issue I may feel that another therapist or service would be better equipped to give you the support you need.
Approach to Therapy & How I Work
We have busy lives. Finding time to book a session and then travel to it can take up much of a morning, afternoon or evening.
It may be you have a busy work schedule that involves travelling or working from multiple locations which would make coming to a regular counselling session at a therapists practice difficult. Alternatively you may feel that you prefer to have counselling from the privacy of your own home rather than having to go to a therapists practice.
With online Skype video counselling these issues are no longer a problem!
So long as you have guaranteed privacy, an internet connection where you are, and a device with a webcam or camera in it, you can have a counselling session.
If you can readily get to Nottingham I offer in person sessions at a convenient city centre location.
