My background was originally in the arts, I trained at Bath Spa University College where I qualified with a BA in Fine Art in 2000.
When I moved back to Devon with my family I decided to re-train in counselling. This lead me to start training at Tower House Counselling and I completed my Diploma in 2014 in Therapeutic Counselling. After a year of working with agencies as a Counsellor and as a Mental Health Support Worker, I decided to deepen my practice by committing to a level 5 in Psychotherapeutic Counselling I qualified in 2017.
This year I have been training and working with CRM Comprehensive Resource Model. CRM is a ''neuro-biologically based, affect-focused trauma treatment model which facilitates targeting of traumatic experiences by bridging the most primitive aspects of the person and their brain (midbrain/brainstem), to their purest, healthiest parts of the self. This bridge catalyzes the mind and body to access all forms of emotional trauma and stress by utilizing layers of internal resources such as attachment neurobiology, breathwork skills, somatic resources, our connection to the natural world, toning and sacred geometry, and one's relationship with self, our intuition, and higher consciousness. The sequencing and combination of these resources, and the eye positions that anchor them, provide the opportunity for unbearable emotions and pain to be stepped into and felt fully while the client is fully present and aware moment to moment which changes how the memories affect the person.''

CRM is working from the inside out, accessing the 'root' of the symptoms we often find ourselves completly perplexed by and struggling to manage. Whether these symptoms are physically presented in unexplained pain, relationship based problems, addictions or anxiety or depression based symptoms. I have found CRM to be a very affective and soulful way of working with clients in a greater depth.
Placements through my training have been with:
Riversvale Psychology department, working on their Breaking Free programme (female group working with abuse) and their Historical Trauma group (female/male, abuse and trauma). As part of my placement I also worked with clients directly off the Riversvales waiting list, all presenting with various diagnoses/symptoms.
Clarity a Mental health Charity, working with mild/mod/complex mental health, my role was to also work conduct initial assessments and allocate clients to counsellors within their service levels. to Assessments. the counselling offered by this organisation was for both long and short term counselling.
North Devon Against Domestic, working with woman who have experienced domestic abuse.
I worked as a mental health support worker from 2014 to 2017 which has complimented my practice and given me a rich experience working with a diverse group of clients.
My approach to therapy is client focused. The first session I explore with the client the focus for the counselling, and how we can best work together. I offer flexibility long or short term work. Sessions usually work on the premise of 50mins however if we are working with a CRM session quite often benefit from an 11/2 is needed.
I work every other Tuesday and every Wednesday Thursday and Friday. I am available for day and early evenings for appointments.
