My Specialisms

My specialisms are working with all the major anxiety disorders, as mentioned above, and particularly trauma and work related stress. I also treat young adolescents for a range of stress and anxiety/mood disorders, from age 12 to age 17, using CBT techniques to provide coping mechanisms and building resource.

I treat relationship and low self esteem issues, using life-coaching skills and am happy to meet with clients and their partners where appropriate.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I work in a very person-centred way and at the same time believe in providing a safe and secure setting for my clients. I work flexibly and, using CBT, have a collaboratively approach to the treatment plan. I am happy to see clients and allow them to work at their own pace, either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. I can offer some evening and weekend appointments by arrangement.

For the last 5+ years I have been working in NHS Primary Care GP surgeries, and last year received acknowledgement as the highest achieving therapist in my team, for both successful client clinical outcomes and positive patient feedback. My background and experience in both the business world, treating a wide range of anxiety and depression in Primary Care (GP surgeries), and bringing up my own three children, I believe provides a unique combination of skills to work with many different client applications. In particular my experience of successful treatment plans using CBT for young adolescents is an area of expertise not commonly available.

As a Law Society trained Mediator, my knowledge of common law and fighting injustice is an additional unique skill to aid everyday problems that we can all be confronted with, particularly when faced with life events that overwhelm us.
