Luisa Caruso

Counsellor in London

Welcome. I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, accredited with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy) and registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am integratively trained, which means that I can work with different models of psychotherapy, for example short-term more cognitive counselling or long-term psychodynamic therapy (over a year). I have practised therapy since 2008, and I work with adult individuals.

Therapy offers you the opportunity to be listened to by another person in a safe and confidential environment. I can help you to explore and make sense of any problems and fears you have in your life, and help you to understand yourself and relationships with others better. Importantly I will offer you a private time and space to explore whatever difficulties you may be having from an objective, non-judgemental and professional perspective. Please see my website www.luisacarusopsychotherapy.com for further information.

Background & Qualifications

I undertook clinical training for over five years at Regent's College London. I completed an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy in March 2012 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling in 2009. I obtained a Cognitive Analytic Therapy Skills Certificate in 2010. I became a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist in June 2012.

I have my own private practice in Wimpole Street in central London and I also practice as a clinician at a clinic in Harley Street, Rafan House Harley Street. In the past I have worked as an adult psychotherapist in the NHS, a private therapy centre and university counselling services.

I also hold a first degree and Masters from the University of Cambridge.

My Specialisms

I have particular experience working with young adults and adults with long-standing issues, including abuse, trauma and mental health conditions. I am experienced at working with relationship issues, and issues arising from work/life balance, including for example career burn-out and the challenges of parenting. I have a specialism in working with high level executives in the law, banking and finance sectors. This complements my previous experience of working with business and governments internationally at the most senior levels.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I believe in the importance of the body in holding our experience and my preference is to work face to face with clients to be present to whatever concerns they may wish to bring. I am however also experienced in working with clients through online and mobile therapy, incuding clients who live overseas. I consider it an honour to be party to someone's thoughts and feelings and to bear witness to their experience. I am happy to work with a client to consider the type and length of therapy most appropriate to them.
