Counsellor in Creswell

I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and a BACP accredited Counsellor and Supervisor.
I have over 16 years experience as a therapist within the NHS and for a range of other organisations as well as working privately.
I appreciate that making the first step to contact a therapist is often extremely difficult, but I will work in a friendly and open manner with you to agree the most suitable course of therapy to help resolve the challenges you are facing.
I offer both short-term and longer term therapy to people from all walks of life, who face a wide range of difficulties.
My therapy room in the Dukeries Business Centre, on the outskirts of Worksop, is within easy reach of the A57, M1 and A1. The room offers a quiet, contemplative environment. It is wheelchair accessible and there is free parking adjacent to the building.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I work as an integrative counsellor which means I draw on my different training and experience to find, with you, the approach best suited to you and your current difficulties. The main three approaches I draw upon are;
Person-centred; which means I work to develop a trusting relationship with you. I listen to you carefully, with utmost respect, but without judgment. I work with you to help you find the solutions that best suit you.
Psychodynamic; which means I recognise the influence our past experiences can have on us. You may find it helpful to reflect on these, if they are relevant to your current difficulties and we can make sense of them together.
Cognitive Behavioural; which means I help you to consider how you think about a situation and how this affects the way you act. Also how our actions can affect how we think and feel. We would work together to help you make the changes you wish to make.
