Wayne Scahill

Counsellor in Chester

I work out of a small private practice with my psychologist colleague at Riverbank Psychology in Hoole, Chester.
I qualified as a mental health nurse 26 years ago, training at St Thomas' Hospital in London. I have worked in clinical areas of drugs and alcohol (including detoxification units & therapeutic communities), homelessness, psychiatry and worked with young people and their families at risk of developing or experiencing first episodes of psychosis.
I have also worked within primary care mental health teams supporting people with mild to moderate depression and anxiety, phobias or people struggling with moving through normal transitions or change in their lives.
I am very experienced at delivering family interventions to families struggling with communication and relationships.
I have set up and developed services, worked in senior management within the NHS and worked on national programmes of health improvement across health and social care.
I am currently Senior Mental Health Lecturer at University of Chester.

I am a husband and father of 2 daughters - I also have a brother with Autism and understand the role of the carer when trying to find my way around the NHS and across social care.
