Hydrotherm Massage Practitioners
The Hydrotherm system is a British invention and has gone on to be made in the UK. In 1992 creator John Holman designed the system to help himself continue as a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist as he, like many Therapists had lower back problems and RSI in his wrists. A simple design of two warm water cushions, headrests and an air filled bolster became the solution. He had developed the first 3-dimensional massage that takes place while the clients lays supine throughout their treatment. No cricked necks, face-hole pressure, turning over or arms dangling down the side of the couch. The Therapist no longer puts strain on their own body especially the back, wrists and thumbs!
Trained Therapists have the opportunity to be taught at Foundation through to Clinical level, including Massage During Pregnancy and Tranquil-Sea -Massage for Cancer.
People come to see Hydrotherm practitioners as they may find traditional massage uncomfortable, are unable to lay on their front or dislike the disruption of turning over halfway through a treatment. Results are heightened as the heat dissipates any initial pain or discomfort and heightens relaxation. Training is of a high standard and Therapists are taught a high level of applied anatomy so they know what they're massaging and how best to treat any concerns.
Usually an hour session is the most popular, but due to the use of heat, shorter 30 minute sessions are very effective along with 90 minute sessions for those wishing to truly relax. Enjoy the combination of heat, flotation and massage.
Training courses are designed for those with an existing Anatomy & Physiology qualification. Levels of training available are;
- Foundation - Taken by all Therapists
- Clinical Anatomy - Optional
- Massage During Pregnancy - Optional
- Tranquil-Sea Massage for Cancer - Optional
Optional courses are by choice of the therapist and who their client base is. They are unable to carry out treatments unless qualified to do so.
When choosing a Hydrotherm practitioner one should check that they are qualified to carry out the treatment you require. As with seeking any therapy treatment opt for a shorter session at first to ensure you have found the right therapist for you. All Therapists will bring their own additional elements to a Hydrotherm Massage based on their own training such as; Aromatherapy, Meditation, Reflexology, Reiki and more.
