My Specialisms

I specialise in helping clients with stress related conditions, including disturbed sleep patterns; anxiety; performance and exam nerves; panic attacks; phobias; and self-confidence; as well as depression, and hypnosis for childbirth and pain management.

Hypnotherapy with its powerful visualisation techniques can have a significant, positive impact on elite sports people too, helping them beat their personal best or overcome an obstacle, and to take their performance to a new level.

When appropriate, I combine hypnotherapy with coaching skills and techniques, which can be particularly powerful for individuals seeking to resolve work-related challenges and perform under high pressure.

Approach to Hypnotherapy & How I Work

Solution-focused hypnotherapy combines clinically proven techniques and a scientific understanding of how the brain works with the relaxed state of trance to help people make significant positive changes within relatively short periods of time.

I focus on the changes that the client wants to make in their life, rather than the problems which prompted them to seek help.

How much will it cost?
Initial Consultation (1 hour) – FREE
Hypnotherapy Session (1 hour) - £60 / £45 (concessions)

Price includes a dreamscape trance CD

The number of sessions required varies as it is dependent on the client's problem; however results tend to be fast, with only ten to twelve sessions being needed on average. For phobia resolution often only three to four sessions are required in addition to the initial consultation.

What can I expect in a session?
As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, it is perhaps no surprise that my sessions are generally positive, focusing on solutions for the future, rather than dwelling on pain or problems.

I work with all my clients to give them a clear overview of the workings of the mind. I help them to understand how and why we can feel like areas of our life are out of our control, and what we can do about this.

Using the tool of hypnosis, I guide clients into a relaxed state enabling them to have direct access to their subconscious mind. This is where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed. Positive suggestion and imagery are used to focus on the behaviours that the client wishes to change.

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is the bringing together of the conscious and subconscious minds in a trance state. It is a safe, powerful technique creating a deeply relaxed state of the body, mind and emotions.

How will I feel whilst hypnotised?
Hypnosis is a surprisingly normal and natural - in fact, we go into hypnotic trances many times a day whilst driving, watching TV, jogging, listening to music, doing repetitive tasks... It is just a really nice state of relaxation where you may feel nothing at all except relaxed.

I guide you into a relaxed trance state by the sound of my voice. It is not sleep. You will remain totally in control at all times.

Can hypnotherapy help my child?
Yes, children and teenagers can respond particularly well to hypnotherapy if they recognise there is something they want to change, such as lack of confidence or exam nerves. It is their desire to address an issue - rather than their parent’s hopes and wishes - which is critical to their success.

As a mum to three young children, I love to bring the benefits of hypnotherapy to children as well as adults.

"As a working mum with a very busy home life and demanding job I began to have real problems with my sleep. This was beginning to affect all aspects of my life.
My work as a CEO is very challenging at the best of times but I found it extremely difficult to focus or be positive about small set backs in life.
A friend recommended Amy to me and I started seeing her on a weekly basis initially a couple of times a week to help me to refocus myself and get back into the habit of sleeping. I had developed poor sleep habits and working with Amy worked amazingly.
I found her really understanding and approachable and within a few sessions I had started to sleep through the night again and learnt how to relax.
This has an incredible affect on all aspects of my life and I started to feel very positive about life again and things which previously felt like a major chore once again became a challenge to be overcome or a problem to be solved.
I would thoroughly recommend her.

"Working with Amy has enhanced my life in so many different ways. Before I began working with Amy, I was exhausted and in an extremely fragile state physically and emotionally having become a single parent with a young child.
As we worked together she helped me understand what was happening in my life and how my brain was reacting to these stresses. She helped my come up with achievable strategies to move forward in small achievable steps. I loved the theory, science and neurology that Amy explained clearly and repeatedly during our sessions.
Now, nearly 2 years on, I regularly sleep for at least 7 hours a night, which I can't ever remember doing before and have a whole bucketful of strategies to manage the stresses that try and interrupt my now happy life. We still have occasional top up sessions, although most recently in the week between booking the appointment and the appointment, I resolved the stress myself! I wholeheartedly recommend Amy's work and know that I wouldn't be the person I am now without the work we did together"
