Please note that my therapy room is at first floor level up 13 stairs.
Counselling is the provision of a special relationship with a trained professional person who will help you to explore difficulties and problems in your life.
Many people find that talking things through with someone who has been trained to listen, and to support them without judgement, leaves them feeling less confused and better able to make the changes which they need to improve the quality of their lives.
Who comes for counselling?
All of us go through periods when life seems to lose its meaning. Memories of painful events in the past and present; and worries about the future can all make it difficult to cope with everyday life.
Sometimes people are lonely, anxious or depressed; worried about their addictions (alcohol, drugs, smoking etc); eating habits perhaps; the physical and mental effects of getting older; life-threatening illnesses; stress of modern living; past & present abuse/difficulties; their relationships, their marriage or family life in general.
Or they may be experiencing, or have experienced, sexual or domestic abuse; anger issues; issues around relating to others; a bereavement, divorce or separation; redundancy; employment difficulties; miscarriage/termination; disability; sexual identity or are just ‘out of sorts' with a vague feeling of "Why am I feeling like this"? And wanting to seek some support.
In fact any kind of loss.
Some may want to relate more easily to others, or may be looking for more meaning to life.
