In my 6 years in the profession I have worked in numerous settings. I spent over 2 years working as a massage therapist at 'The Treatment Rooms' in Brighton, an award-winning day-spa. This gave me the opportunity to meet a huge variety of clients whilst being part of a big team and to really hone my massage skills. Alongside my time there I volunteered at the Martlets Hospice in Hove, giving light-touch short treatments to in and outpatients, a role that I found hugely rewarding.
Since relocating to Bristol I have worked in offices giving short, energising massage to staff members and I have also worked in healing areas at festivals. My real passion is my own-practice and I'm currently based at the Alma Vale Centre in Clifton, Bristol.
I have completed various courses and am qualified in Complementary Therapies Level 3 VTCT (Swedish, Aromatherapy, Reflexology) plus Anatomy & Physiology Diploma, Foundation Certificate in Advanced Clinical Massage techniques from Jing Institute, Hot Stone therapy Level 3 VTCT, Certificate in Deep Tissue Techniques and Indian Head Massage Level 3 VTCT.
Deep tissue massage is my speciality. This comes from working with so many clients who want a deeper treatment and learning techniques that are highly effective in getting to deeper areas of tension and alleviating them. I enjoy the slow pace of deep work which means it can also be very relaxing style of massage for the client. Deep tissue doesn't necessarily mean a painful experience.
I am also a holistic therapist. This means working with the client to establish their needs and goals and using different techniques and styles to best achieve the desired outcome. This could be deep tissue, aromatherapy, reflexology, trigger points, passive stretches or hot stones.
I believe the benefits of massage therapy to be numerous. An hour spent lying still whilst a skilled practitioner manipulates and soothes my muscles is an opportunity to switch off from thinking and listen to what my body is telling me. Maybe I need to improve my posture so my back doesn't hurt? Maybe I need to exercise more so I have more core strength? Maybe an old injury didn't heal properly and needs a few sessions to help it recover? Maybe I have tight shoulders because I hold my tension there and I'm not even aware of it?
I want every client I treat to leave the therapy room feeling relaxed, positive and recharged and will do everything I can to ensure that is the case.
