Kathy Hodge

Massage Therapist in Romsey, Southampton

I first became aware of The Bowen Technique from a work colleague in London in 2001 after sustaining whip lash from a car accident. I had 3 initial sessions and then decided to continue because I was benefitting from the deep relaxation I experienced both during and after treatment. It gave me a great sense of wellbeing, I felt nurtured mentally, physically and spiritually. Bowen really helped releave the painful symptoms I had experienced and continued to help me feel strong. as the treatments started to work for me in other areas of my life. My therapist was my inspiration to train to be a Bowen Therapist myself and I owe her great thanks, as that special person at that time in my life.

My objective is to help people experiencing pain and suffering from dis-ease to move towards better health both mentally and physically.
My main modality is The Bowen Technique because it is so gentle it can be used for babies, during pregnancy, after surgeries to aid recovery time and for the elderly or frail.
Looking forward, I'm hoping to use it to officially help people suffering from cancer along side the massage and Reiki I already use at Macmillan.
It's a wonderfully relaxing form of body work to give and receive - My whole family enjoy time on the couch.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I like to build rapport with my clients so they feel relaxed throughout their treament.

At the initial treatment we discuss your expectations from the sessions with me and I make an assessment after looking at how you present and any restrictions held in your body. Markers are taken to help assessment at a later session to see the improvements. These may not all by physcial markers.
If you are having a Bowen session you can receive the treatment through light clothing either lying on your front, back or side. Sometimes treatment is given sitting in a chair. There will be some small breaks in treatment to allow your body to make any changes, usually these are very subtle and further change often happens 2-3 days after treatment. The initial session is usually 60 mins and there after sessions are about 45mins.

Testimonials

"I have been with Kathy, as my therapist for more than 5 years.

Kathy is a wonderful, caring person who looks at the pain, injury and the person as a whole. I suffer from Renayards and she has the room warm for me, and there is always a cool glass of water. The careful addition of scent is added to stimulate or calm her patients.

She is prepared to talk through any issues, carefully mapping all that is said and then she carefully questions all that she does not understand fully before any Bowen takes place. Then using her knowledge she procedes leaving the body to re-regulate and send the messages for healing to the right spots.

I have never been with my Therapist, Kathy and not been super impressed by how much better i feel. Sometimes i need to have a power nap to regain my center, Or need extra water to flush out my toxins but this is how it shoud be.

I cannot give Kathy enough stars for the love, care, thoughtfulness she has given to me over the years. I highly recommend her - "simply perfect in all her ways!" -( Mary Poppins )

so very glad to have found her - there is parking which is very important to me as well.

"I found Kathy to be a great therapist, she is very dedicated and understanding. I needed her help after my father passed away. I was having stress related issues, shoulder and back pain. After first session I felt much better mentally and after the second session my neck and back pain had gone completely. I would highly recommend her and I am looking forward to a top up session with her later."
