Tracy Dunning
Massage Therapist in Bishop Auckland, County Durham

We seek counselling for many different reason, our lives and experiences are unique to us and finding the right counsellor to explore our thoughts and feelings is a daunting experience alone so well done for taking the first step to finding the support you are looking for and welcome to my profile.

I can offer you a safe, comfortable non-judgemental space where you can simply be you. I offer 1-1 counselling sessions with the aim of helping you recognise and work towards resolving or coping with the issues you bring to sessions.
I use a client-led, integrative approach, this means that you, the client, are in control of your sessions, using various tools and techniques from a combination of approaches, together we can find a way for you to not only exist but to live.
I am also a Creative Counsellor and use various creative interventions to help you find answers to your thoughts at times when sometimes words are not enough to help you work things out.
I am a member of the Creative Counsellors© and was invited to contribute to Tanja Sharpe's book Creative Counselling

My service involves supporting clients over long or short term periods, aiming to express impartial, non-judgemental thoughts, assisting and encouraging you to talk openly about your feelings and emotions, working respectfully with the aim of working effectively and in collaboration with you.

Many personal life experiences led me to support others and train to be a counsellor. I have experienced mental and physical abuse, health issues (including diagnosis, acceptance and management), divorce, loss & bereavement, LGBT+ family issues, step-family issues and many others from child, young person and adult perspectives.

I also offer 1-1 Clinical Supervision, Peer Reflection Groups and Group Supervision

Private Practice has brought about experience in many different issues and I am constantly learning about our thoughts, feelings and physical responses to our worries, fears and traumatic experiences.

My Specialisms

Working with adults, young people and children I have special interests of loss & bereavement, end of life, anxiety issues and LGBT and neurodiverse clients however, my main interest is of supporting clients, helping them understand, accept, resolve or live with the issues they bring to therapy.

Approach to Massage Therapy & How I Work

I am qualified as an Integrative Counsellor with CBT as my core model, I work collaboratively with my clients and the sessions are client-led which means my clients always have control of their sessions and how they will be. Whether they want to talk, use tools and techniques or play within therapy sessions, they always make the decision.
Within the safety of the therapy room they can be as loud/quiet/silly/grumpy as they wish without fear of judgement.

My therapy room is based in a beautiful unique setting known as The Well-being Carriage, a train carriage converted into therapeutic space situated in County Durham where I offer face to face counselling and supervision as well as Peer Reflection Groups and Group Supervision (the space is only large enough for groups of 6 so the groups are small and safe).
