I have a first class honours degree in Neuroscience, a Masters in Psycholinguistics and a Masters in Psychology. I then completed my clinical psychology doctorate and am registered with the HCPC.
Following this, I have further training in compassion focussed therapy, cognitive analytic therapy, mindfulness, systemic therapy for mental health and support for survivors of childhood trauma.
I have experience working with depression, anxiety disorders including PTSD, OCD, phobias, social anxiety and panic disorder and childhood trauma. I also work with difficulties around stress and burnout.
I work in an integrative manner, using a range of helpful techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT,) mindfulness, motivational interviewing (for behaviour change), and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In my experience, it is best to work flexibly together to find what will be most helpful at this particular time. We will spend some time in the first weeks of therapy coming to a shared understanding of what is difficult, and what is keeping things problematic. From here, we can think together about what you feel needs to change, and work towards this. We will also think together about what is important to you in your life and how to move in this direction. My aim is to create a safe atmosphere where you feel listened to, so that we can think together about what matters to you and what would be helpful to change.
