For many years I have volunteered in a drug and alcohol charity where I treat clients battling substance addictions.
Alongside this, I have experience of volunteering in a bereavement organisation, where I dealt with clients whose loved ones had passed away in different circumstances.
I have also volunteered for a Carer's charity service in Ilford doing home counselling with many different families. Clients ranged from carers looking after elderly parents to families suffering from various mental health issues.
Seeing my clients make changes to their lives rewards me. Knowing that I can be on that journey with that client is truly a privilege for me. Any potential clients that are out there I know how you are feeling because I have walked in your shoes.
I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Some of the areas of counselling I specialise in are;
Marriage and Relationship Counselling
Relationship counselling can improve the way you relate and deal with the people you care about. This can cover everything from partners, couples and families.
I can help you to break free from the issues that are causing you problems and move forward together.
Bereavement and Grief Counselling
The experience of bereavement or loss is always a major moment in a person's life, and the response to it is unique to you. It is quite normal to feel sadness and even anger when a loved one dies or leaves. Even the loss of a pet can have a major effect, as many people see them as a part of the family.
With bereavement counselling I can guide you through these feelings with care and sympathy, helping you come to terms with your loss.
Depression and Anxiety Counselling
Depression can be a particularly devastating illness that affects your body, mood, behaviour and thoughts. If left untreated, symptoms can persist for many years, often becoming worse over time.
Counselling and Therapy have been proven to significantly help overcome depression.
Are you struggling with feelings of anxiousness, panic attacks or phobias?
I can help by providing you with ways of dealing with certain situations as they occur and exploring the triggers that cause them.
Addiction, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselling
Addiction happens because you become dependant on something, often as a means to escape from the problems and issues you are experiencing.
I can help you to face the causes of your addiction, helping you to stop your addictive behaviour and take back control of your life.
Violence and Domestic Abuse Counselling
Are you suffering from abusive treatment? Abuse can manifest in many forms, including physically, emotionally or sexually - and all forms can be just as harmful to a person's well-being. It can be experienced by both genders, and domestic violence against men is a serious issue not to be ignored.
Whether male or female, I can help you to address and work through these problems, allowing you to overcome the trauma it may have caused.
Mindfulness and Meditation
Mindfulness can be defined as the awareness of what is going on moment by moment, both inside and outside of ourselves. It can be an effective weapon against the "tunnel vision" that can be all too common in our daily lives, especially when we find ourselves busy, tired or stressed.
In my practice I offer you a non-judgemental and empathic space to talk freely without judgement. You will feel that you are truly being listened to. I can share my experience with you and help you live a more happy and fulfilled life.
