Nutritional Therapist in Chelmsford

My name is Ailsa Hichens. I'm an experienced nutritionist and health coach. I help women lose weight, rebalance their lady hormones and feel amazing every day by transforming the way they eat, breaking up with restrictive dieting, and learning to live a life they love.

I know you feel your body is letting you down. And your fat cells seem to take on superpowers while you sleep. Perhaps you look in the mirror and wonder what the hell happened to your body, your life, waistline, confidence, energy or motivation (and possibly all of them at once). And the hot flushes. And the brain fog. Don't get me started on those...
I see you. You're a successful woman who has every other aspect of her life handled and yet your weight and your hormones seem beyond your control. You know what you should be doing but your body has started to rebel. It's like it doesn't know how to behave.

If this sounds like you, let me help. I am experienced in helping women who are struggling with their health, an ever-expanding waistline, and a lack of confidence find their own magic formula to break through what is holding them back - and become the best version of themselves.

Background & Qualifications

I'm a fully-qualified, Registered Nutritional Therapist + Health Coach, registered by the nutrition trade body BANT and the Government-backed scheme for complementary therapists CNHC. I retrained as a nutritionist after over 20 years working as a magazine editor and graduated with distinction from the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition.

I've spent years in clinic working with clients just like you who have discovered that losing weight and rebalancing your hormones is NOT just about eating less until you can stand it no longer. I help people fix their relationship with food and eat the ‘right' things for them. That's the ‘nutritional therapy' part.

What is unique about my approach is I also coach and motivate my clients to follow their plan, keeping them accountable for what they're up to. When you work with me, it's YOUR plan, not mine. I just help you have a breakthrough in what matters to you most.

My Specialisms

I am an expert in nutrition and coaching programmes for women who are struggling to lose weight on their own, who are experiencing the rollercoaster of horrible hormones or unwelcome digestive distress - and sometimes all of these at once thanks to the joys of midlife. I also help a variety of women who can't put their finger on what's wrong; they just know they should feel more vibrant or energised than they do.

All my clients have one thing in common: they are looking for a different way of dealing with their problems that isn't starving themselves (which never worked anyway) or popping another pill. And they are prepared to make a few changes and explore how they, too, can use food to help them feel fabulous.

By following my method based on real food and practical solutions for a healthy lifestyle, my clients are well on their way back to optimum health. If this scenario sounds familiar, why not call me on 01245 331 331 or 07970 771 223 or email me to see how I can help you reach your own health goals.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I help my clients put my advice into practice in their own lives - without deprivation or following punishing regimes featuring foods you'e never heard of and can't get from regular supermarkets. You can count on me for evidence-based, targeted nutrition advice tailored just for YOU and no one else combined with some gentle, encouraging support to help you reach your health goals.

I'll listen to your complete health story right from when you were little because it's all part of who you are today. I'll explain things simply, allowing you to ask all the questions you need to in order to understand your programme. I promise never to judge you and will give you a programme that's easy to follow because I realise that everyone likes to make changes at their own pace.

Your first consultation will last up to 90 minutes. You will complete and send back a nutritional therapy questionnaire before you visit. During the session, we'll go into your medical history, your health goals and any other challenges you're facing, what you generally eat, what you like to eat, what you hate to eat and how you have to eat (on the bus, in a rush at your desk, and so on). There's no judgement and anything you share with me is kept in confidence.

My nutritional therapy + coaching packages are usually sold in programmes that run over 10-12 weeks. This is because it is rarely helpful for anyone to leave without the knowledge that they have at least 3 sessions in place to help them implement the programme, make changes at a pace that suits them, and to deal with any challenges or questions that come up along the way.
