Rita Carmichael, BA(Hons), PGCE, DipION, FdSC, mBANT, CNHC
I am a registered nutritional therapist with a foundation degree and diploma in nutritional therapy from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for nutritional therapists, and a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), the professional association for nutritional therapists. I continue with regular training updates to keep pace with the fast-moving area of nutrition science.
I have a particular interest in weight management, healthy ageing, energy levels, female hormones, autoimmune conditions and digestive health; I also offer nutritional support for people with cancer. I am a coach for Metabolic Balance®, the natural weight management and hormone-balancing nutrition. For four years, until January 2017, I was a facilitator for Penny Brohn Cancer Care's life-enhancing "Living Well with the Impact of Cancer" course. I also offers wellbeing solutions in the workplace and write a healthy eating blog Nutri Natters, which can be found at www.nutrimatters.co.uk. All of the recipes on my blog are designed to be anti-inflammatory and most are gluten-free.
The body has an amazing capacity to repair when given the right conditions. As an experienced and qualified nutritional therapist, I'll guide and support you on your journey towards optimal health and wellbeing. Drawing on principles derived from current biochemical and physiological scientific knowledge, I'll assess your nutritional needs and recommend a personal healthy living plan to address the causes of ill-health and restore balance in the body.
Before we meet, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire about your health concerns, medical history, eating habits and lifestyle (the questionnaire can be downloaded from my web site www.nutrimatters.co.uk). During our first consultation, we will agree a personalised healthy eating and lifestyle plan, giving practical and manageable advice for you to follow at home. Be assured that you won't be asked to do anything that you don't want to do!
The latest lab tests (to identify any chemical imbalances in the body) and nutritional supplements may be recommended. Follow-up consultations are recommended to monitor progress and move you further towards your health goals.
Consultations are face-to-face, by telephone or Skype.
If you would like to discuss your health concerns in confidence before making an appointment, please call or email to arrange a free 10-minute chat.
