Jonathan Shaw
Osteopath in Edgware

I like to call my self a Naturopathic Osteopath. Although this is a bit of a mouthful I feel it best describes my approach to healing and wellbeing. I believe in a truly holistic and self empowering method of treating illness and maintaining a high level of health. In my work I look at a persons lifestyle, their posture, and nutritional profile/ diet. Also I believe in the importance of holistic exercise, correct breathing and how a person copes with stress and deals with the slings and arrows of daily life.

As an Osteopath I not only look at the function of the musculoskeletal system but also look for the causative factors and how optimum nutrition can help the body recover from the stresses and strains that it endures. This approach helps to speed recovery and addresses the underling issues of tension, poor blood flow, muscular imbalance, inflammation and pain.

You could say that I am a wellness coach and my aim is to help a person get the best out of life and achieve a higher quality of health no matter where they are, both mentally and physically, at the moment.

Approach to Osteopathy & How I Work

I take a full case history which can include a musculoskeletal and postural examination and assessment. I ask for a diet diary and use this to help advise on healthy nutrition.
Where necessary I will refer to the GP and request blood tests or refer to appropriate specialists . All my patients are asked to sign a consent form before any hands on work is carried out. A full explanation of the treatment is provided and the patients modesty and confidentiality is assured at all times.
