Gill Landsberg
Psychotherapist in London

I am an experienced, integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, practicing in Central London, NW1, and the City, EC2. I draw on a number of therapeutic approaches, which I tailor to suit the needs and concerns of you as an individual.
It is often by exploring together in therapy and gaining some insight into why we behave as we do, that we can enable real change to take place. Whether you are seeking therapy for a crisis situation or you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by a problem in your life, I provide a supportive, confidential, objective and empathic space where you can express your feelings and concerns without being judged.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by a situation in your life, or perhaps you are feeling a bit stuck or unhappy with where you find yourself; possibly it all feels a bit meaningless. By exploring together the patterns of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how you feel about the direction of your life, your values, beliefs and aspirations, I can help you make sense of what may be causing you distress, and help you to gain a new perspective on your problems, facilitating growth, relief and resolution.

Background & Psychotherapy Qualifications

I completed a five-year, UKCP-accredited training in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent's University London, qualifying with a Masters Degree and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am a registered member of both the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by its code of practice and ethics.

As well as working in private practice, I have several years' experience of working within the NHS at Camden Psychodynamic Psychological Services. I have spent three years working for a London branch of MIND, and have undertaken a specialist bereavement training run by CRUSE.

My earlier career in corporate operational management has provided me with understanding and experience of the challenges of juggling the demands of work, relationships and family in today's world, whilst trying to maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being.

My Specialisms

I work with adults and young people, on a one-to-one basis, providing therapy for many different issues including depression, anxiety, work related stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, trauma, alcohol and drug abuse, issues around identity and sexuality, low self-image and changing life events.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

No matter what your background, circumstances or problems, I will provide you with a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can explore together your inner conflicts and work through obstacles that might be holding you back - from being who you want to be or from living a productive and fulfilling life. It is within this collaborative, trusting relationship and through the experience of being met and understood that true healing can take place.
The way I work is informed by:
Psychodynamic therapy - which stresses the importance of early relationships, the role of the unconscious and how past experience shapes and influences our current thoughts and behaviours.
Existential therapy - which explores how we make meaning in our lives and the concepts of freedom and choice.
Humanistic therapy - stresses the therapeutic relationship as a reparative opportunity for recognising our own responsibilities, and facilitating growth and change by offering an empathic, non-judgemental, honest and trustworthy experience.
I also incorporate CBT and Mindfulness techniques into my work.
