Suzanne Travis G.N.S.R. M.A.R. P.R.M.
I am a fully insured reflexologist, registered with the Association of Reflexologists (AOR) which was established in 1984. The AOR is an independent and non-profit making organisation supporting members worldwide. Through regular consultation with industry bodies and advisory groups they promote and support high standards of practice within the industry. Being one of the largest Reflexolgy associations, it is approved and recognised by most medical insurance schemes. I am also a member of Professional Reflexology, a forward thinking Association which upholds high standards and professionalism.
I graduated with the Northern School of Reflexology with a level 3 Diploma in 2006. I have received extensive training in Reiki and was attuned to Reiki 1 and Tera-Mai Seichem in 2007. Two years later, after working one to one for 6 months with a reiki master, I was attuned to Reiki 2.
I have attended numerous workshops and conferences in order to extend my knowledge and working practice.

Reflexology is a gentle therapy where the reflex areas of the feet are massaged using a variety of pressure techniques. This stimulates the bodies own healing mechanisms and is excellent for promoting relaxation, releasing tension, improving sleep patterns, improving mood and increasing well being, and as a result can be a beneficial support to those experiencing illness.
It is possible to find out where the problem areas are in the body by working the feet. Once these areas are located during the initial exploratory session, regular treatments can ease many physical problems and bring pain relief, as well as providing emotional support for those suffering from depression or stress.
Reflexology is free of the side effects found in many medications which can sometimes mask symptoms. Reflexology balances the systems of the body, including Hormonal, Digestive, Circulatory and the Nervous System etc.
Reiki is a wonderful stand alone treatment or it can be used to complement and enhance Reflexology. It is a healing technique based on the principle that energy flows through the practitioners hands to the client's body in order to activate the natural healing processes. This restores physical and emotional well-being and can often bring a sense of peace and tranquillity. I use Reiki with Reflexology to a lesser or greater degree, depending upon the needs of the client.
Working from the knees down, I incorporate ACUPRESSURE (Acupuncture without the needles!) into each session as working with the energy meridians is an essential part of my practice.
REFLEXOLOGY LYMPH DRAINAGE (RLD )focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause a positive effect on the lymphatic system of the body such as reducing swelling of Lymphoedema, which often develops following treatment for breast cancer. Most people are familiar with Lymph Drainage Massage which is used to treat conditions other than Lymphoedema and RLD may be used in a similar way. The Lymph system interacts with the Cardiovascular, Digestive and Immune systems of the body.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage may be useful with the following symptoms:
* Arthritis - Asthma - Eczema
* Chronic Fatigue - Fibromyalgia - ME
* Sinus Problems
* Migraines - Headaches
* Muscular Tension - Aches and Pains
* Premenstrual Tension Syndrome
ENDOCRINE SWEEP helps to balance the Endocrine system and is particularly good for helping to ease P.M.S. and menopausal symptoms. During a reflexology session, the main emphasis is placed upon working the hormonal reflexes of the foot, which in turn helps to bring the body back into balance.
REIKI-REFLEX combines 1 hour of Reflexology with 30 mins. reiki - a wonderful combination.
I offer relaxation sessions and in depth courses of treatment which are geared to each individuals personal requirements. Over time, most therapists develop their own unique way of working which is personal to them. I draw upon a variety of skills which include specialist reflexology techniques, reiki and acupressure, depending on a person's needs.
I regularly reassess treatment strategy and progress with the client. Changes are made as and when necessary, as a persons requirements will often alter as treatment progress.
The initial reflexology session lasts for approx. 90 mins and involves a consultation and explorative session, where sensitive areas on the feet and calves are recorded. This can often point to imbalances in the body. I use the information gleaned during this session to formulate a suitable treatment plan.
Any further treatments last approx. 1 hour.
WORKING WITH THE FEET
In my experience, the feet accurately reflect the state of our bodies. If someone has a physical problem, the corresponding area of the foot will be sensitive in some way. The more uncomfortable the area, the more severe the symptom.
There are numerous ways a skilled practitioner can find these imbalances. ie. skin tension and a lack of flexibility in a particular area. There could also be small lumps which disperse with massage or the skin might feel less pliable or as soft as it should. Other areas may feel grainy or 'crackly' as I run my fingers over the skin. The latter usually reflects tension in the corresponding area of the body such as muscle tightness in the shoulders or along the spine. The way I work is an instinctive process, combined with a built up body of knowledge, acquired through long training and experience.
I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT THE THERAPIES I PRACTISE, I LOVE MY WORK AND VERY MUCH LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO YOUR FIRST TREATMENT...

"I have been having reflexology treatment with Suzanne for many years, when she helped me with a frozen shoulder. She is extremely sympathetic and goes out of her way to find a solution to any problem I have. One one occasion I thought I may have to cancel an appointment with her for my shoulder as I had an upset tummy. I made it to the appointment but mentioned the upset, she immediately concentrated on the tummy problem, and by the end of the session I was feeling a lot better, and had no further problem. I really recommend her for her skill and caring attitude"
