Relationship Therapist in Oxfordshire

I am a senior BACP accredited, psychodynamic integrative counsellor and supervisor having worked both privately and in the NHS for a combined 15 years. I am a highly motivated individual and therapist with a strong believe that through therapy people can enhance, improve and achieve personal goals and change their lives for the better.
All that is required is equal commitment and to have the ability to work collaboratively to gain the most from therapy sessions. I believe that Counselling is possibly the best investment a person can make.

I work for a variety of healthcare providers and employee assisted programmes, and therefore additionally able to work with people who have private health cover

I practice from my consulting room in Haywards Heath which is private, welcoming with easy parking.

Background & Qualifications

I am a qualified Counsellor, supervisor, EMDR therapist ( able to work with people who are suffering from trauma or post traumatic stress disorder), I am a trained Dynamic interpersonal therapist, trained to work with young people and adolescence. I am a trained qualified senior supervisor with experience of working with groups and individuals. My training is psychodynamic/ integrative which means that I am able to combine many years of continuing personal development training with various modalities ensuring that I am able to adapt to the individual needs.

My Specialisms

I work with individuals covering many different issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, workplace stress, midlife emotional crises, identity issues, low self esteem, low confidence, trauma, relationship problems, with both couples and individuals.

My specialisms also extends to working with young people and adolescence having worked as a school counsellor and play therapist for a number of years.
Additionally I have experience of working along side a Barrister/ mediator where I take on the responsibility of working with the children who have found the experience difficult, this is seen as important work and helpful for the child to process difficult experiences.

I work very successfully with couples who are finding communicating with each other difficult, or where the relationship has broken down. Couples counselling is an important therapeutic space to be able to talk opening in a safe fair and equal environment. Sometimes it is a place to agree to part or separate and to learn some valuable tools to do this amicably.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

My approach is gentle, encouraging, collaborative, empathetic, overall I am highly professional . My work is analytical which means that our past can still be informing us unconsciously in the here and now, if this is bought to awareness it allows for change. My work as a Psychodynamic Counsellor is underpinned by theory, which can be interesting and insightful. My aim is to help individuals or couples achieve their own personal goals. This can be in short term brief therapy or long term open ended therapy.
I work with an agreed contract and provide confidentiality and abide by my codes and ethics as set out by the BACP my accrediting body.

I believe that everyone has the right to be happy and contented, but that sometimes the path can be a rocky one, to have a Counsellor walk the path along side can be highly therapeutic and empowering.
