, Sex Therapist - North Shields
If sex is creating problems in your relationship, or if concerns about sex are getting in the way you starting a relationship, sex therapy may be a something that could help.
People attend sex therapy (counselling for sexual issues) from all ages and backgrounds. You don't need to be in a relationship to get help but often if you are in a relationship, it is better to attend as a couple.
I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have, either by phone or email, before making an appointment.
Background & Qualifications
Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy
RN Dip HE General nursing
Within my private sex therapy practice, I see range of people who are all struggling with sex and the impact that has on their life and intimate relationships. Sexual problems are very common and can happen to anyone. I always make sure people feel safe to talk about subjects that are often kept secret, as we are not encouraged to talk about sexual problems within our culture. Those sexual problems can include, loss of sex drive, erectile dysfunction, premature or delayed ejaculation, problems with orgasm, vaginismus and pain with penetration (dyspareunia), sexual identity or lack of sexual confidence. I specialise in sex, love and porn addiction, having worked extensively in the addictions field for over 20 years. I have also undertaken specialist training about sex addiction, which includes working with partners.
Approach to Therapy & How I Work
Some people are nervous about sex therapy as it can often conjure up fears of what will happen in the therapy room. Sex Therapy is a talking therapy, no physical contact will ever happen and you will never be asked to demonstrate anything. Clients can often feel embarrassed about talking about their sexual difficulties but it is surprising how quickly that goes.
I like to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible, in a situation that can be (initially) quite stressful.
