, Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Relationship Therapist, Sex Therapist - London
I have been a therapist since 1976, starting with an interest in Sexuality from my work as a Family Planning Nurse. I was a founder of the St George's Hospital Course for Diploma in Human Sexuality and have trained many excellent sexual and relationship therapists over the 16 years I held the post of Associate Course Director. I trained in Family Therapy to broaden my understanding of relationships, and since then have trained to work in Family Constellations, and with trauma. Further training in Imago Relationship Therapy and Encounter Centred Therapy have all developed the ways in which I can work flexibly with families, individuals and couples. I am also fascinated by recent developments in brain science, and the ways in which we can use our brains to help us out of the difficulties that confront us, and how we can use our brains to make sense of who we are. Despite the many years of seeing people, my excitement for the work remains undiminished and I greet each new encounter with and open mind, ready for fresh ideas and new learning.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work
After all the years and all the trainings I now work from a systemic integrative approach, but it has added dimensions for specific situations such as trauma, abuse, infidelity, sex therapy, bereavement, depression, anxiety, and so on. I like to share my thinking with clients, to check out that I am understanding them, my style is conversational, and I am very comfortable with silences. Sometimes important work is happening in a silence. I can't offer a one size fits all, as one size won't fit all, and where I don't think I can help, I will try to assist people in finding someone who can.
