From a devotion to the Yoga's, resistance training and martial arts, I know exactly how a sore, needy body can feel. Having developed a keen interest in self-treating for muscle relaxation, then turning my attention on assisting others, I was looking towards a career change in sports Physiotherapy or Osteopathy. However, through attending a course in deep tissue massage and another in Usi Reiki hands healing, fate introduced me to the art of Thai "yoga" Massage and I was hooked form the start! It just made sense. However, the magic stems from the fact that my chosen teaching lineage includes a modern-day Reusi in rural Thailand from whom much incredible, almost lost knowledge has been handed down. I am graced with daily study of this knowledge and as such I maintain specific Thai values and traditions within my practice.
I hold a Practitioners Foundation Diploma in Thai 'Yoga' Massage via LITYM and a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology.
I work with many, many Yoga teachers and practitioners, cyclists and dancers, martial arts people and sports players and musicians. Therefore, I work on sore legs, Hip Flexors, I-T bands, tight Calve's, Hamstrings and Gluteals, Quad's (thigh), the whole of the back area and neck work. Additionally, I practice Indian-style head massage - often as a stand-alone treatment if required. I also work with manual workers, office workers, stressed parents .... you name it!
I listen to my clients and discuss at lengths what their needs are. Focussing on remedial bodywork to soften your tight, knotted tissue, as well as slow relaxing, de-stressing treatments, both in a hygienic environment.
Within the framework of remedial therapy, after an initial consultation (no separate fee!), I study postural alignment and breathing patterns. Your painful shoulder issue may emanate from a lower limb or back problem! My core aim is to help you and I take great pleasure in doing just that!
Thai bodywork - regularly referred to as "very deep work", which it can be if that's what's needed and if my client prefers that, or it can also be approached in a slow, calm, gradual manner - comprises of tissue compressions (deep or not) and many other techniques to manipulate the soreness; In addition, many stretches and mobility techniques are used.
My style is the traditional, floor-based work using a specially constructed Thai massage mat - while both patient and practitioner are fully clothed. I do offer trad' Thai fisherman's pants should they be required.
