I have a B.A. Hons in Psychology and worked for many years in education specialising in Special Needs before I decided to focus on yoga teaching and particularly working one to one therapeutically. I have been studying and practising yoga for over twenty years and gained a Yoga Diploma from the British Wheel of Yoga, the Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation and the Society for Yoga Practitioners in 2013 which is recognised by the British Council for Yoga Therapy and the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council. To support my therapeutic work I also have a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have a very broad approach and am willing to work with anyone. I am particularly interested in the use of sound and mantra as part of a therapeutic yoga practice. As I have a background in education and have DBS checks I am very happy to work with children and young people, including differently-abled, with supervision of their parents.
I aim to work flexibly and responsively in co-operation with the person before me. Each person must be treated as unique and special. I will have an initial consultation and assessment in dialogue with the person and develop an appropriate therapeutic practice which suits them and their lifestyle. The practice is taught and the person then incorporates this practice into their life for a period, returning for regular reviews and modifications where necessary.Ultimately I aim to equip the person to become increasingly independent and learn to manage their own health and well-being with yoga and minimal support from me.
