Vera Dubrovina-Thompson

Yoga Therapist in London

I have been practicing yoga since 1992 and teaching from 2004. My creative approach is drawing on many traditions but heavily influenced and inspired by the teachings arising from Sri Krishnamacharya's lineage such as Viniyoga, Iyengar and Ashtanga. My lessons are guided by the studies with Sylviane Gianina, Burgs and Shiva Rea, structured around meditative flow based practice and tuned to the individual needs.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I focus on understanding the individual client's need. I work with my clients so that they can develop tools and confidence to facilitate healing and manage their individual health issues with the help of yoga therapy.

What is yoga therapy:
- yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people with health challenges that cannot be addressed in a group class
- a set of postures, breathing exercises, meditative and relaxation techniques will be prescribed to suit individual needs
- no prior knowledge is necessary as we meet at client's point of experience
- progressive, non-invasive process that aims to reduce/manage symptoms, restore balance and increase vitality
- particularly helpful for chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment
