My name is Catriona Jennings. I am interested in helping people achieve good health through the use of Traditional Chinese acupuncture.
I enjoy studying and attending courses to update my knowledge and clinical skills. I have especially enjoyed studying auricular acupuncture with Jim Chalmers as auricular acupuncture can be useful in treating a wide range of conditions. I have also attended courses on Master Tung acupuncture and Meridian wave acupuncture which which use techniques that are especially good at rapidly reduce pain.
I have an interest in meditation and stress reduction using visualisation and relaxation techniques.
I enjoy Qi gong, yoga and walking in the countryside.
I studied Traditional Chinese Acupuncture at Manchester Metropolitan University and achieved a first class honours degree.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council. The British Acupuncture Council guarantees excellence in training, in addition to adherence to the Council's Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct.
Courses attended include- Advanced auricular acupuncture taught by Jim Chalmers, Master Tung acupuncture, meridian wave acupuncture and channel palpation theory. Regular attendance at British Acupuncture Council Conferences and regional group meetings keeps me up to date with current research.
Qualifications
BSc (Hons) Acupuncture, Bachelor of Veterinary medicine and Surgery ( BVMS) Certificate in tertiary Education (CETE)
My degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery and work in this field has given me a strong foundation in disease pathology and pharmacology. I always enjoy meeting new people and over the years have developed skills in communication although I don't have formal counselling qualifications.
Much of my work focuses on pain management as many patients seek acupuncture for chronic pain. This can cover many conditions such as headaches
musical-skeletal problems, digestive issues and many more. I am also interested in neurological conditions, women's health, stress and anxiety reduction and insomnia.
I like to use a very traditional Chinese approach to acupuncture, taking time to choose an appropriate treatment plan based on holistic principles. I also often suggest dietary and exercise advice based again on Traditional Chinese principles which can help compliment acupuncture and speed up recovery. I always enjoy meeting new people and working with them to improve both physical and emotional health.
