Hi, I'm Izzy, an Art Therapist working creatively onlline and in-person. I'm down-to-earth, sensitive and committed to the belief that EVERYONE is creative! I will hold the difficult stuff, help you make sense of the mess and celebrate the joy and magic with you. I am not only committed to your wellbeing, but to my own too. I regularly see my own personal therapist in order to maintain strong boundaries, share my pain and struggles and learn more about myself. Through this, running, sea swimming and walking my dog Nona, I take care of myself so that I can help you take care of yourself!
I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist and Ecotherapist. My qualifications also include a diploma in Online Therapy and a BA hons in Fine Art. As a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settlings including women's shelters, community mental health, hospice care and an HIV service. My understanding of the nervous system and the body has grown over the years, and I have completed additional training courses in Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Therapy. Using this knowledge I empower people to feel more intune with their bodies and their emotions. I am HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) accredited, a member of BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) and also a member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online).
I've been running my full-time private practice for more than 5 years, and my main areas of interest are in coping with anxiety, stress and overwhelm. I'm passionate about using creativity to help people unlearn patterns that no longer serve them, and instead learn to trust in themselves. I work with adults who want to stop living inside their heads and to start living intuitively instead.
My approach is person-centred and holistic, inviting the whole body into the therapy and the art making process. I support folk to feel safe by sitting alongside them, hearing their stories, showing up for them and sharing my tools with them. Art making in therapy is a tool for communication and exploration. It allows us to give our feelings form, colour, texture and more. It is an unfolding of the self through creative investigation. In my sessions creativity comes in many forms - drawing, mark-making, movement, writing, talking, singing, sitting, breathing… We'll find methods that work for you, regardless of whether you have any creative experience or not. All you'll need is a pen, some paper and you!
