I offer a therapy that is adaptive, attentive, and non-judgemental. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, where you will feel heard and supported, and where your needs are noticed and respected. Art making in therapy can help find new ways to express and explore feelings and experiences, and to put things out onto the page.
I work with people who have experienced difficult relationships in their childhood, with masking and feelings of judgement or shame, as well as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
If you experience anxiety or conflict from masking your whole, neurodivergent self, I offer a space to be and express all that you are. I am a neurodivergent art psychotherapist offering a neuroaffirming practice.
I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist, registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
I am a member of the British Association of Art Therapists, the University Mental Health Advisors Network, and the Wales Arts Therapies Advisory Forum.
I work as an Art Therapist, a Specialist Mentor Mental Health and offer art for wellbeing workshops.
I work with adults and young people. I work with counselling and arts therapy trainees. I have worked as a therapist with adults and young people, including in specialist trauma services.
I'm experienced in providing grounding techniques, psychoeducation and strategies to manage mental health, alongside psychodynamic therapy.
I am a neurodivergent art psychotherapist offering a neuroaffirming practice. Art therapy offers art as a means of expression, and I also work adaptably with communication and sensory needs.
I often work with harm or difficulty from past relationships, including early childhood experiences. I have experience working in NHS complex psychological interventions, specialist abuse service, trauma therapy, and in working with young people.
I am also a Specialist Mentor in Mental Health, and my work is guided by neuroaffirming and anti-oppressive practice and disability rights.
I believe in offering accessibility and creating safety in the therapy room as a priority, and for this reason we will spend some time thinking about your needs.
As an art psychotherapist, I offer art making, images, and objects as a way to express and explore your feelings and experiences. My aim is to work with you to create a space to safely explore, reveal and be with your experiences and feelings.
You do not need any artistic skill or experience and there is no right or wrong way to use art in your session. A session might combine talking and artmaking, and the balance of this depends on the individual. The art making might be an abstract image that expresses or reveals emotions, an image that represents an experience or idea, art materials might be used for the way they feel and move as a sensory or grounding practice, or a combination of all three. I usually work in an open and unplanned way where you bring what you need to each session (this is called non-directive therapy).
