Specialisms

The Bowen Technique is used to address a wide range of chronic, physical and emotional issues. Whilst back, shoulder, knee issues and stress are the most common conditions addressed, I have found that conditions associated with the nervous system such as Parkinson's Disease, Fibromyalgia, and Strokes often respond positively to this gentle technique. Remember, the body always wants to heal itself, and normally does so. However, there are times when the self healing function appears to become 'stuck'- The Bowen Technique acts like a switch - effectively re-booting the bodies natural healing process. As well as Hands on Therapy I offer DISTANCE BOWEN - This is a Covid Free way of receiving treatment - see my web site (www.bowenwellness.co.uk) for full details of this form of Bowen Therapy. .

My Approach

The Bowen Technique is a gentle holistic treatment, that put simply, 'encourages the body to heal itself'. Gentle rolling moves are made over muscles and tendons. Such moves induce small currents in the body's fascia (i.e...connective tissue) which the brain evaluates and triggers the healing process to rebalance stresses in the bodies It is a simple technique. Simple for the client to receive. - (They are treated either on a couch or sitting in a chair) and simple for the therapist to administer. - The moves are gentle and therefore suited to people of all ages. The treatment can be applied through light fitting garments. Bowen protocol is such that after each small set of moves, The client is allowed to simply rest for 2 minutes. This allows the body to assimilate the moves before continuing. Such ' rest; periods are an integral part of the technique. Clients report finding the technique very relaxing. Only a comparatively small number of sessions are normally required for an improvement to be noticed. - Often the initial session alone produces. a considerable improvement. A Bowen treatment session is something to be enjoyed- In the short-term it is both restful and relaxing. In the long-term, the benefits accrue as the body responds by rebalancing the stresses in the connective tissue of the body. People who have not experienced the technique find it hard to appreciate that something so gentle can be so effective - The technique really has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. After a Therapy session, clients feel extremely relaxed - but the real benefit normally becomes apparent a few days after the treatment as the body starts to re-balance itself. It is also important to assess a client's overall well-being, both physically and emotionally and apply the appropriate amount of Bowen Procedures that the person is able to deal with. During Coronavirus restrictions -I offered "Distance Bowen" . Where the Client remains in their home and me in mine. If this alternative form of Bowen Therapy appeals to you , please contact me to learn more about this virus free form of treatment - I administer such Therapy on a "No betterment no fee" basis.
