Specialisms

I specialise in Individual therapy, Group therapy, Couples therapy and Family therapy. I have experience working with many conditions, however, I have a special interest in working with trauma, anxiety, areas of fertility and parenting, relationship issues and depression.

My Approach

Individual therapy Individual psychotherapy can be helpful for people who have experienced trauma, relationship issues, grief, depression, stress and anxiety. Through psychotherapy, we can access the unconscious reasons why we act in certain ways, why we keep repeating such patterns of behaviour and how this causes us pain. By becoming more aware of these reasons we gain a better understanding of why we are compelled to do the things we do. By revealing our inner conflicts, needs and wishes, the analytic approach can help relieve our suffering and consequently can assist us in leading happier, more fulfilling lives. Couples therapy Couples psychotherapy provides a space in which partners can gain insight into why their relationship may have become challenging. Couples come to therapy for many reasons, for example, to address longstanding issues or because of a sudden event or crisis. Whether you are a younger couple facing the challenge of new parenthood or have been together for many years, the experience of exploring and communicating concerns in a safe environment can make a significant difference, especially when this is done with the help of an experienced and sensitive psychotherapist who can facilitate new kinds of conversations between partners. Before beginning couple psychotherapy, you will generally have one or two consultations together to ascertain if this is the best pathway for both of you. Group therapy Group therapy can be helpful if one is struggling in their interpersonal relationships, feels alone with their feelings or are having issues in group dynamics in the workplace or at home. If you are interested in group therapy, we will explore you joining a group together over several individual sessions. Group therapy is a dynamic process which challenges and supports the individual in dealing with problems from the past that they continue to experience in the present. The group helps members to understand their expectations of themselves and others and the effect of their behaviour on others. This deeper understanding can facilitate positive and lasting change and self-transformation. Family therapy Family Therapy is an effective treatment intervention for families which may be stuck in unhelpful patterns of interaction that produce symptomatic behaviour in its members and negatively impact their development and wellbeing. Such patterns could arise from, among other things, conflict between family members; difficulties in coping with the impact of physical or mental illness; disruptions or breakdowns in communication or contact following separation and divorce. This work is flexible, either seeing whole families together or working with various constellations of family members.
