Jacky has been in private practice since 1999. She moved to the Isle of Wight in 2009 whereby the practice of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and EMDR & Counselling has helped people with a wide range of issues. Jacky has a special interest in post traumatic stress disorder and all forms of trauma and is referred too as a specialist therapist for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by a wide range of medico legal firms/solicitors/insurance companies to help their clients with PTSD, as well as seeing clients who self refer. Jacky is an EMDR Consultant and offers Supervision for EMDR, as well as CBT & Counselling.

Jacky Smith MSc has a Masters of Science Degree in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from Goldsmiths, University of London, Diploma in Hypnotherapy in 1997 EMDR levels 1 & 2 in 1998 & 1999 & is an Europe Accredited EMDR Consultant/Supervisor. Diploma in Counselling in 1999 . Post Graduate Certificate in Research Methods 2019. Jacky has been in private practice since 1999. From 2003-2008 Jacky worked as a counsellor for Hampshire County Council. From Oct 2008 - June 2009 2009 March- Oct CBT Therapist & EMDR Therapist at The Priory Hospital Southgate, North London. 2008-2009 Lecturer and Supervisor on the MSc in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at Goldsmiths, University of London. 2009 Nov to 2021 IAPT NHS Isle of Wight High Intensity CBT Therapist & EMDR Consultant. Jacky specialises in Trauma Therapy, in particular EMDR Therapy whereby the understanding is that most current symptoms have an originating causal memory which gets stuck frozen in time with all the beliefs, emotions, sensations, smells, sounds etc. This can then generate a range of PTSD Symptoms, anxiety disorders and depression. Jacky's aim is to help the client process this memory and update the information, before clearing out the current triggers and laying down healthy future templates for a more adaptive healthier way of functioning. Jacky also offers Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help clients challenge their ways of thinking which can lead to unhelpful emotions and behaviours and Counselling/psychotherapy for those clients who want to explore issues in depth. Jacky works in an integrated way & works remotely via video and will follow which therapy is most suitable for the client with a clear shared understanding. Jacky sees clients Saturdays 09.00-18.00.
