About me

I have been in Private Practice as a Therapeutic Counsellor since 2006, working with a range of clients on a wide variety of issues. I offer face to face counselling based at my home, I also offer counselling by Skype.

Experience

Main Qualifications: BSc (hons)Psychology, Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling, Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I work with private clients, as well as clients referred by Insurance Providers, Solicitors, and Employee Assistance Agencies.

Specialisms

I work with adults and with young people from the age of 13 years and upwards. The issues I have experience of working with include: abuse, anxiety, adult ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, , bereavement, Bipolar Disorder, bullying, depression, eating disorders, health related issues, hair pulling (trichotillomaina) Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, self esteem, stress, Tinnitus (and Hyperacusis), and the positive deisre to create a more enriched and meaningful life.

My Approach

My training as an Integrative Counsellor enables me to draw on insights and techniques from different mainstream therapies - particularly person centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy. This helps me respond flexibly to each client's way of thinking, feeling and behaving, and offer them the therapeutic style which suits them best. Most of the issues that people bring to counselling are related to deep personal distress. However, Counselling can be used as a way of making positive life choices, finding deeper meaning and supporting personal growth.
