Christopher White Counselling

Christopher White
Counsellor in London

Hi, I am Chris and I offer counselling and psychotherapy online and face-to-face at my private practice, which is a short walk from Brixton and Clapham North tube.  I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psycotherapy Society (NCPS). If you would like a free consultation send me an email or use the contact form on my website. We can talk about what brings you to therapy and how we could work together.

I adapt therapy to your needs, based on what you find helpful. When tings don't feel right or when you are feeling stuck or locked into repetitive patterns, uncovering what is underneath can create change. I can help you make sense of your experiences and make space for reflection. Successful therapy can help you change your thinking and cope better with life's challenges. This will help improve your situation as you learn more about yourself and can create a life that is true to yourself with higher self esteem and confidence.

I am happy to offer a free consultation. just email me on chris@throughthedoor.co.uk for a consultation online or at my practice in South London.

I am warm and open-minded and endeavour to bring a creative approach to therapy helping clients to join the dots between parts of themselves and use techniques learned in moderating groups to help people understand themselves better. I am culturally sensitive and have extensive knowledge of European and Latin American cultures.

I originate from the North West but moved to the South when I was eight. I have made London my home for over 30 years living just between Clapham North and Brixton. I love the area for it's diversity and energy. I believe in the importance of locality, and for this reason, I work for the Brixton branch of Lambeth and Southwark Mind, promoting awareness of its various services. Before I became a therapist, I trained in psychology and then used this to work in human understanding for industry. I then trained as a psychotherapist at T.A. East in London, which pays particular attention to the social environment we live in.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

My approach is always to start with you the client, giving you unconditional positive regard and allowing you to lead the therapy, bringing what you want each time to the session. My therapy can be flexible to fit different situations and I work with a pluralistic tool kit based on an understanding of neurodiversity, the social environment, past experiences from childhood and genetic predispositions. I put an emphasis on working in the here and now, but will revisit the past when it is relevant to the work we are undertaking.
