Hannah Pamplin
Counsellor in London

I am an integrative counsellor and coach, based in London. My approach to my therapeutic work is flexible and trauma-informed. With the aim to create a safe and welcoming space in the therapy room, where the pace of sessions can be completely guided by you.

In my work I begin by really listening to you and your story, working to understand and make sense of current and earlier life experiences, patterns and dynamics - and how these affect and impact you. If you are wanting to use the therapy space to work on change, my practice also can include elements of solution-focused therapy or coaching. My approach is both compassionate and practical, supporting you to gain insight while also working towards meaningful change.

Counselling is a wonderful tool to be able to explore past experiences and learn how they may continue to show up in our lives. Sometimes we may want a space purely for curiosity, exploration, and to be heard, and sometimes we might want to take steps to change how our past experiences are affecting us.

Coaching is often a more-forward thinking tool, looking at the present and the future. Coaching can help identify areas in our lives that we may want to enact change, and can offer structure to support these changes.

You may not know what support you're after yet, and that's okay! Reach out, and we can arrange an introductory call to discuss where you're at and what you might need.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

My training is in a modality called personal consultancy. This is a blended approach to counselling and coaching. As an integrative counsellor and coach, I make use of a number of different approaches, mainly person-centred counselling, transactional analysis, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

My background is in art psychology and journalism, having studied an MSc in the Psychology of Art, Neuroaesthetics and Creativity. More recently, I have been working and volunteering in the third sector. As such, I am creative and flexible in my approach to mental health support, and I welcome discussions about more holistic practices if this feels helpful for you.

My Specialisms

I have experience working with stigmatised topics such as bereavement by suicide, surviving sexual abuse, and navigating complex family dynamics. As such, I have developed a trauma-informed approach that includes elements of mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and psycho-education to help people understand their survival responses without shame, and with an embodied sense of confidence and a stronger sense of self.

I believe that everyone can benefit from learning more about themselves and their nervous system, regardless of past experiences!

My practice is LGBTQIA+, Kink, Sex Worker and ENM friendly.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

My approach to therapy is integrative and trauma-informed. I want the pace and path of sessions to be yours to choose. The first session is a chance for us both to begin to get to know each other. We will spend some time exploring what has brought you to counselling or coaching, I may explore a timeline of significant events with you, and we may begin to look at what you might like to get out of counselling or coaching. As well as an introductory call, the first session is a chance for you to ask me any questions you may have about counselling, coaching, or the way I work.
